"C" to the Fifth Degree!

These cupcakes were a long time coming. I started thinking about this recipe over the summer, and I finally got to realize my vision! These were "Chocolate Centered Candy Cane Cupcakes!" I used dark chocolate cake mix and put dark chocolate chunks inside the cupcakes. Those baked for the time stated on the package directions, and cooled before they were frosted. The frosting was a traditional buttercream (Yes, you must use butter!!!) with a twist. I pulverized candy canes in the blender until they looked like pink dust, no chunks, no bits, just powder. I mixed the candy cane dust into the buttercream and piped it onto the cakes. My tip was all messed up, so the piping didn't come out as nicely as it could have, but they still tasted amazing! I did sprinkle candy cane crumbs over the top of the cupcakes to garnish and let people know what was inside the frosting! Everyone should try this!

Princess Castle Cake

I was asked to make a birthday cake for a girl at the daycare last year for her birthday. This little girl was so particular that she drew me a picture of exactly what the cake should look like! Everything on this cake is edible The main rectangle of the cake is the tiers of chocolate cake, the towers are rice cereal and marshmallow molded into cylindrical shapes, and the points on the towers are ice cream cones. Everything was covered in marshmallow fondant in the appropriate colors to match the drawing! The flags completed the look with construction paper glued on toothpicks. Customers were pleased!
